Constipation During Pregnancy

Constipation during pregnancy is common. The iron pills that are prescribed for daily intake during pregnancy, cause constipation. Other factors that cause constipation during pregnancy include the hormonal changes, the position of the body and the food that the mother eats.

Constipation can be kept at bay by drinking a lot of water and eating foods that are rich in fiber. The fiber in the food makes the it move faster in the intestines. Fiber is helpful during pregnancy to fight constipation, however it also affects the absorption of medicines and vitamins as the food and medicine .
