Living with Depression

A depressed person often finds life not worth living even though there is every reason to be happy. Either they simply drag on coping with sadness or frustration or they end their life abruptly.

A depressed person is not able to perform his or her duties at work or school. A depressed person may get agitated very easily in the office often causing further tensions in the office environment which might even result in the loss of a job.

The family members of a depressed person may slowly develop depression themselves if the patient does not recover quickly. Children of depressed parents develop much more slowly than those who have normal parents. Facing depression in the family at a young age makes them prone to developing depression and other diseases later in their own adult lives.

The patience of the dear ones of the patient is also put to test. It becomes more and more difficult to keep calm in  the family if depression is not immediately tackled. The best remedy is to keep calm and including activities that divert attention of everyone including the patient to something that is fun - it can be a simple game of cards or watching a funny TV program for that matter.
