Diagnosis of Acid Reflux

Diagnosis of Acid Reflux

Analysing the classic symptoms: The doctor can understand the presence of acid reflux from the patient's complaints about heartburns and by analysing the life style of the patient.

Gastrointestinal Series:  The patient is made to swallow barium and x rays of the digestive tracts are taken that can tell the signs of symptoms to the doctor.

Gastroscopy: is a visual examination of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum with a slim, flexible tube with a light on its end. The patient is normally administered anesthesia during this process.

Esopageal Manometry:

A small flexible tube is inserted through the nose into the stomach through the esophagus. This tube can measure the pressure that occurs during swallowing. It can also check the strength of the sphincter between the esophagus and the stomach.
